Day Three of working on this Sylvia piece (you can see Day One, and an explanation of why this is taking so long here [link] and Day Two here [link] )
The first thing I did to start Day Three was to airbrush the "sparkle" into the Magic etween Sylvia's hands using both gold and white and "cutting out" the gold nuggets underneath to bring them out. After that, I added all the celshading in the figure, (done by dropping/raising the luminance by 16 points (out of 255)).
I then isolated the magic "nuggets" and copied them to a new image, eroded them to make the gold "bigger" without resizing the whole image. Once they were enlarged, I gaussian blurred them, pasted them as a new layer, and duplicated the layer until they glowed JUST right.
Finally, I took a stock shot of a skull I had on my harddrive, oilpaint-filtering in my old DOS Display program, dropped the brghtness, raised the contrast....
At the very last minute, I realized he DID need to be stretched out, but only from the hips down. She had little stubble legs. So I stretched them a bit to look nicer.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
